I hold a License in Indiana to practice midwifery and have a Degree in Midwifery from Midwives College of Utah. In 2016 Dr. Casey Delcoco and I started working in a collaboration. I have completed training in neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (NRP), adult, infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Birth Emergency Skills Training (BEST), MCU Complications Workshop, Skills workshops/training's taught my local midwives. My apprenticeship was 3 ½ years and I trained under several midwives, including: Certified Nurse Midwives and Certified Professional Midwives and training at a Birth Center in Virginia for 3 months. My training involved hands on experience under the supervision of Midwives with prenatal, labor, birth, postpartum, and well women care. I am currently a board member of the Indiana Midwives Association board, a member of the North American Registered Midwives and a member of the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM). For more information on my education and training as a midwife please visit: http://narm.org/certification/ I have been married to my husband for 19 years. We have 4 children ages 17, 15, 9, 1. They were all born at home in the water with a CPM CDEM midwife. I wanted to help advocate natural birth and support women and families in the birthing community so I became a doula in 2004. I found my self wanting to provide massage on a more professional level for my clients so I attended The Alexandria School of Scientific Therapeutics (massage school) and graduated in 2007. |
Michelle Wright, Birth Assistant

Michelle Wright, though a country girl at heart, currently lives in Indianapolis with Scott, her husband of 27 years, and two out of their five sons, three of which are grown and out on their own.
Her lifelong dream was always to be a wife and mother, always very fascinated with everything associated with pregnancy, birth, and being a “mommy”. She first earned her bachelors degree from Purdue University in Elementary Education and taught school for several years prior to starting their own family. She then homeschooled the boys until each was ready for high school.
With their youngest now in high school, Michelle is experiencing the somewhat daunting, yet exciting, transition into the next phase of her life. She continues to be passionate about gardening, interior design, baking, and interacting with people in a truly authentic way. Even with all her interests she had more time on her hands than ever before, so she went back to school to earn her Dental Assisting Certification and worked for a short time in that field.
A couple years ago, Michelle was coaching cheerleading, one of the cheerleaders being the daughter of a midwife. Michelle was given the opportunity to observe a home birth under the incredibly qualified and capable loving care of April Brake, CDEM,CPM, to see if she would have interest in training as a birth assistant. After that first 19 hr long labor, Michelle was unquestionably “hooked”.
She has completed training in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), adult, infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), CPR, Birth Emergency Skills Training (BEST), and DONA doula training. Michelle has attended over 100 births and has never been more passionate about a job outside of homemaking and raising their five sons.
Michelle thanks the Lord continually for her new career as a Birth Assistant, specifically for the chance to be able to be present and care for mothers during such a profoundly beautiful time in their lives as the labor and birth of their child.

Philosophy Of Care
I see pregnancy and childbirth as natural processed, and not as a sickness that require intervention. It is my philosophy that the health of the mother and child can best be promoted when the client and midwife have mutual trust and responsibilities for the preparation for the birth. I believe that women are suited to attend other women during a life changing journey like pregnancy, labor and birth. I consider your pregnancy and birth your journey with me a part of your collaborative team. My goal is to educate, assess, counsel, assist, and provide primary care for my clients. For the normal to low risk woman, out of hospital birth provides many benefits to both parents and their babies. Every family has a right to high quality personalized prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care. Different families choose birth at home for different reasons and those differences should be respected. It is the right and the responsibility of the parents to make informed choices regarding their pregnancy, labor and birth. As such they have both the right and responsibility to become informed and knowledgeable as a couple, that they may share together in the decision-making. I offer family centered Midwifery care within my scope of practice by supporting the decisions that you make.
